Ronaldo is currently the all-time top scorer in men’s international football with 122 goals for the Portugal national team. Moreover, he out played every other male footballer in Portugal’s 6-0 win over Liechtenstein on Thursday night.
Ronaldo now has 198 caps for his country after Sunday night’s game. The veteran big man is set to become the first player to earn 200 international caps when Portugal take on Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland for the next Euro 2024 qualifiers in June.
The comfortable victory came three days after Ronaldo, who now has 197 men’s international appearances, assisted a 4-0 victory over Liechtenstein in his first match under manager Roberto Martinez, who became the player with the most appearances of the history.
Under the leadership of the Spanish boss, Ronaldo, long in charge of Belgium after the World Cup, succeeds the Portuguese coach and restores the undisputed leadership of the team.
