After winning the IPL 2023, Rahane is selected for the WTC final in large part thanks to CSK captain MS Dhoni

Ajinkya Rahane is a player who seems to be reinventing himself in the current IPL 2023 season. The veteran batsman performed best for the Chennai Super Kings under MS Dhoni, scoringa tonne of runs with a strike rate of above 199. He was even selected in India’s squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia on June 7 at the Oval, as BCCI appreciated his performance.
MS Dhoni is reportedly responsible for selecting Rahane for the Indian team. According to the Times of India, BCCI had communicated with CSK captain and India captain Rahane before selecting him.
Rahane could be a key player in India’s bid to win the WTC final, especially due to injuries to middlemen Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer.
Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, K L Rahul, KS Bharat , Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, and Jaydev Unadkat are among the players who have received the starting nod for the team.
