Messi’s team released a statement after his brother Mathias’ comments received widespread attention on social media. They said they have no connection with Mathias and that this is just a personal opinion and does not represent the views of the 2022 FIFA World Cup champions.

According to Mathias , Messi will only return to Barcelona if there are major changes at Camp Nou, including the appointment of a new president. He also insulted supporters, calling them traitors and saying no one protested Joan Laporta.

In a statement released by Toni Juanmart, Messi’s team distanced themselves from Matthias’ comments. Juan Marte tweeted: “Messi’s environment points out that Matias’ words are solely a personal opinion that does not have to coincide with other members close to the player. Barca is ‘surprised’ and assures that they do not want to comment on anything.”

Lionel Messi’s return to Barcelona, according to Matias Messi, is unlikely. He continued, calling the supporters traitors for doing nothing to stop the Argentine star’s release, and asserting that the only way the PSG star would return was if there were board of director changes at the club. Barcelona is likewise reluctant to remark on the trending video.

As heard from Matias : “I have a SPORT clip that says ‘Messi should return to Barcelona,’ and I said ‘hahahaha, we are not going back to Barcelona’, and if we do, we are going to do a good cleaning. Among them, kick out Joan Laporta. People (in Barcelona) did not support him. They should have gone out for a protest or something. Let Laporta leave and Messi stay. The Spanish are traitors. I’m telling this because I want it to come out of our guts.”

Lionel Messi’s contract negotiations at PSG are being watched closely by Barcelona, who are eager to get him back to the Camp Nou. If the Argentine does not reach an agreement on a new contract and the Ligue 1 team does not activate the one-year extension, he may become a free agent in the summer.
