Shubman Gill, an Indian cricketer, met Manchester City players Kevin de Bruyne (midfielder) and Erling Haaland (striker) following the end of the ICC World Test Championship final on Tuesday, June 13.
The 23-year-old posed with the two football players wearing a cream-colored fuzzy sweatshirt. The beautiful intro also praised the club on winning the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and Premier League this season. Gill wrote in the caption:
“Mancity congratulations on the Treble.”
This followed City’s 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in the UCL final on Sunday, June 11. They also won the 2022-23 Premier League title, finishing with 89 points (28 victories) in 38 games. Arsenal is in second place.
For the uninitiated, Gill was at City’s FA Cup final earlier this month, when they defeated Manchester United 2-1. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma joined the Punjab-born cricketer in the stands.
Shubman Gill Slapped with 115% Fine Following WTC 2023 Final
Shubman Gill was recently fined 115% by the ICC following the end of the WTC final. The right-handed batsman was fined 15% of his match fee for public criticism of his dismissal in the second innings of the last Test. Meanwhile, Team India and Australia were penalised 100% and 80% of their match fees for slow over-rates, respectively.
“India’s Shubman Gill will also face a sanction for appearing to criticise the decision to give him out on the fourth day of the Test, breaching article 2.7, which relates to public criticism or inappropriate comment in relation to an incident occurring in an international match. The young opener has been fined 15 percent of his match fee.”
For the uninitiated, Gill posted a screenshot of his disqualification on Twitter and Instagram after a contentious ruling on Day 4. The video showed gully fielder Cameron Green putting the ball to the ground, but TV umpire Richard Kettleborough ruled it out. When there is no solid proof, judgements generally favour batters.
Shubman Gill will most likely be seen in action again during India’s full-fledged West Indies tour, which begins in July.
